According to police, officers were dispatched around 3:40 a.m. Dec. 18. Those officers met with a homeowner on Staghorn Court who thought a burglary was in progress due to the loud noises, but officers stumbled upon a party at the home on Clipper Bay Drive.
While at the scene of the party, those officers were told that a male was missing from the gathering.
"[The] investigation revealed the male had left earlier on foot and was brought back to the party," Alpharetta Department of Public Safety spokesperson George Gordon said. "He then disappeared again."
Officers searched the wooded area and shoreline of the lake to no avail. They later launched a search of the lake, and found Ivey's body underwater near the back of a home.
Alpharetta police detectives are investigating the "possibility that illegal narcotics played a role in the events that transpired," Gordon said.
Gordon added police are waiting for the autopsy results from the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office to determine Ivey's official cause of death.
