Governor, Alpharetta Mayor Say New Jobs Make it a Good Day

The EY Global IT Center in Alpharetta celebrated its opening with the help of the Governor, Mayor and other business and community leaders.


EY Global IT Center recently opened the doors to its offices in Alpharetta, with Gov. Nathan Deal, Mayor David Belle Isle and other community leaders helping  to celebrate another technology company in the city today, Aug. 1.

"Anytime we bring high-paying jobs to Georgians, that is indeed a good day. And today is certainly that good day," said Gov. Deal.

The Governor said the state's college systems are ready to provide the education for workers at EY and other technology companies.

"Alpharetta has 600 technology companies inside our city limits. There are another 300 technology companies around the borders of our city, which means this is the highest concentration of technology companies anywhere in the southeast," said Mayor Belle Isle. "We have the largest, best powered fiber optic cable network in the southeast."

Belle Isle said 35 percent of what the Technology Association of Georgia calls "Where Georgia Leads" companies make Alpharetta home.

This $8.5 million investment by EY should boost the local economy.

"We are adding over 400 jobs here over the next several years in our new Global IT Center here in Alpharetta. We have over 150 hired just in the last year and we are hiring more," said Susan Bell, EY Atlanta Office managing partner.

She described the employees as "highly educated, high-end IT personnel, software, numerous business analysts, true partners with our business and service lines.

Employees in Alpharetta include some who have relocated from other offices and new recruits.
