ALPHARETTA, GA -- Alpharetta and area residents are asked to lace up their running -- or walking -- shoes for a good cause this weekend.

The second annual Heart & Sole 5K will be held on Saturday, April 23 at Avalon. This race benefits The Lionheart School, an Alpharetta-based school for children with autism or other developmental disorders.
Runners, walkers and stroller pushers are welcome to participate in the race, which begins at 7:30 a.m. in Avalon’s Plaza. In addition to the 5K, a Fun Run and Tot Trot will also take place.

Participants will receive a t-shirt and admittance to a post-race celebration in Avalon’s Plaza, where guests over age 21 will receive a complimentary Tito’s Bloody Mary. Items from The LionheARTisans Cottage and produce from The Lionheart Gardens, the school’s organic garden, will be available for purchase.
The 5K is USATF Certified and will be professionally chip timed. Registration and tickets are available here.
