The Hotel At Avalon Plans Topping Out Ceremony

During the event, the hotel will preview its chef-driven restaurant and provide an exclusive first look at its interior design.

ALPHARETTA, GA -- The Hotel at Avalon has rolled out the details of its topping out ceremony planned for April 12.

The establishment will anchor Avalon, the 86-acre community of shopping, dining, entertainment and living in Alpharetta.

Managed by HEI Hotels & Resorts, the well-appointed, 330-room hotel and conference center celebrated its groundbreaking in June 2016. Bringing the brand’s values of vision, design and craft to life, The Hotel at Avalon will join a distinguished portfolio of more than 100 independent hotels around the world that are exactly like nothing else, early next year.

As part of the topping off celebration, the hotel will preview its chef-driven restaurant and provide an exclusive first look at its interior design through virtual reality tours and a glass display truck, featuring a model guestroom.

“The Hotel at Avalon and the connected Alpharetta Conference Center will fill a huge void in Alpharetta by bringing an upscale boutique hotel and event facility to the market, meeting the substantial demand for luxury accommodations and event space,” said Jim Stormont, president of Stormont Hospitality Group. “We are confident that The Hotel at Avalon will become the premier hotel of choice for both business and leisure travelers in North Atlanta.”

The $112 million Hotel at Avalon and Alpharetta Conference Center project is the result of a public-private partnership between Stormont Hospitality Group, North American Properties (NAP) and the city of Alpharetta, with additional assistance from the Development Authority of Fulton County and the Alpharetta Convention & Visitors Bureau.

“Avalon’s experiential approach will manifest in the hotel environment as well,” said Mark Toro, managing partner at NAP. “The Hotel at Avalon’s lobby will focus on its chef-driven restaurant and bar, which will spill graciously into the entrance. When guests arrive, they will feel like they’re coming home – like they’re walking into a modern, southern-inspired kitchen – greeted by friendly faces dressed in stylish business casual wear.”

Cooper Carry is the hotel’s design architect, and the stunning interiors have been designed by Perkins + Will and The Johnson Studio at Cooper Carry. From the artfully-appointed lobby to the stylish upscale suites, The Hotel at Avalon’s interiors will reflect its dedication to southern hospitality, taking cues from a tranquil color palette of grays, creams and buttery yellow.

"We searched for design solutions that would be appropriate for this specific hotel and to identify certain industry standards that we might redefine in order to do so," said Bob Neal, principal of Cooper Carry’s Hospitality Studio. “We were encouraged to imagine innovative design concepts which would support the Avalon brand and thereby provide unique guest experiences. For example, the Presidential Suite, which is often located on upper floors, was placed on the second floor. Guests visiting the suite can walk out onto their private terrace and immediately experience the pulse of Avalon.”

In addition to the hotel’s local chef-driven restaurant, The Hotel at Avalon will feature a 24-hour fitness center, an upscale lobby bar and gathering space, and a spacious second-story pool terrace, ideally designed for outdoor events and banquet functions.

Guests will also enjoy complimentary high-speed wireless internet service offered throughout Avalon’s Fiberhood, Atlanta’s first uber-fast gigabit wireless internet with speeds up to 100 times faster than other typical service in the region.

The topping out of The Hotel at Avalon will be celebrated in tandem with the grand opening of Avalon’s Boulevard East, the second phase of the mixed-use community, which will double Avalon’s size and bring an additional 20 retailers and restaurants, 1,000 office workers and 350 residents to the development.

The Hotel at Avalon and Alpharetta Conference Center will be the final piece of the entire Avalon project.
