Human Sexuality Education Materials On Display At Fulton Schools
Parents, educators and community members are asked to provide feedback about the proposed materials on display at five sites.

ALPHARETTA, GA — Fulton County School Board policy requires that all printed and non-printed materials dealing with human sexuality and HIV/AIDS be reviewed and vetted by its Health Education Advisory Committee.
As part of this process, the materials, which are listed below, were recommended for approval by the committee and are available for public viewing now through Sept. 24, Fulton County Schools said Tuesday.
The materials are on display at five locations throughout the county from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and include a curriculum packet, pamphlets regarding the Revved Up Kids seminar, and two video instructional resource DVDs. The five locations are:

Northwest Learning Community

Fulton parents, school system employees and community members are invited to review the materials listed below and provide their feedback via an online survey taken by smartphone. The materials you will review include:
Healthy Lifestyle Choices (Grades 6-8)
This program takes a comprehensive approach to teaching health based on recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control’s School Health Education Resources initiative and the National Health Education Standards.
Revved Up Kids (Grades K-12)
This program provides age-appropriate sexual abuse/violence and prevention education training programs for children teens, and adults and youth-serving organizations.
Defining Sexual Assault (Grades 9-12)
This program defines sexual assault, sexual violence, and rape culture as well as who is able and unable to legally give consent. It also discusses what to do after an assault and addresses risk reduction and bystander intervention.
HPV: What Every Teen Needs To Know (Grades 9-12)
The program provides accurate information about how the human papillomavirus, or HPV, is transmitted and urges sexually active students to practice safer sex. Information also is shared about a vaccine that can protect against some strains of HPV.
