Il Divo Dumps Live Orchestra's Music for a Recording

An ArtsAtl.com writer reveals that the audience never heard the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra during their Aug. 12 appearance in Alpharetta.

It was billed as "Il Divo with Atlanta Symphony Orchestra," and it was true that the orchestra was there on stage with the quartet last Sunday, Aug. 12. But what wasn't clear was that the ASO's music wasn't being heard by the audience.

An ArtsAtl.com writer reports that the ASO musicians were "window dressing" for the classical crossover act. Il Divo instead used a recording of another orchestra for the performance.

But is this what the audience should expect at what is supposed to be the summer home of the orchestra? Each season for the past five years the ASO has scheduled four concerts at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Alpharetta. The concert with Il Divo was supposed to be the fourth concert, yet the crowd never heard their local orchestra.
