Inaugural Milton Wall Of Fame Induction To Be Held Saturday

Each inductee is from Milton or was involved in youth recreational programming, or at a Milton high school, and excelled in their sport.

MILTON, GA — Six names will be forever etched in stone at Bell Memorial Park, 15245 Bell Park Dr, Milton, GA 30004, as the inaugural inductees to the Milton Wall of Fame, on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Each inductee is from Milton or was involved in youth recreational programming in Milton or at one of the Milton high schools, and excelled at a high level in their sport.

The six inductees are:

  • Collin McHugh: Baseball; Major League Baseball pitcher and 2017 World Series Champion with the Houston Astros.
  • Tim Godby: Coach; 13-Time Georgia High School Association (GHSA) State High School Girls Lacrosse Championship coach at Milton High School.
  • Evan Nolte: Basketball; 2014 ACC Champion with the University of Virginia.
  • Ryan Gridley: Baseball; Mississippi State University, currently in the Oakland Athletics minor league farm system.
  • Michael Nugent: Lacrosse; standout goalie at Mercer College, played professionally with the Denver Outlaws and Boston Cannons.
  • Lydia Witkowski: Softball; played at Hofstra University and Georgia Southern University.

The purpose of the Wall of Fame is to recognize and honor the achievement and success of deserving athletes, coaches, and contributors. There were 15 individuals nominated in 2019. Each nominee must be from Milton or have participated in or coached a sport in Milton. As an athlete, they must have achieved success in their respective sport beyond high school. And, each must be a good citizen and demonstrate good character, integrity and be a good representative of their program and the City of Milton.

Final selection was voted on by a 9-person voting committee comprised of all seven members of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and one representative each from Cambridge and Milton High Schools, designated by the principals.

"We're thrilled to have such a successful and well-rounded group as the inaugural inductees to our Wall of Fame," said Milton Parks and Recreation Director Jim Cregge. "The six being inducted were not only standouts on the field, but are also each a great representative of the City of Milton."

Once an individual is nominated and meets selection requirements, he or she shall remain on the ballot for seven years.

The City is accepting nominees for the Class of 2020 now. To nominate someone, go to the City of Milton Website at cityofmiltonga.us/parks-recreation/wall-of-fame-nomination-form. Nominations for the class of 2020 will close on March 31, 2020.
