Injured Driver Flees After Crashing Vehicle In Milton

Milton police say the male subject, who reportedly suffered injuries, was only in the city for a brief time and is not expected to return.

MILTON, GA — A man who crashed his vehicle in Milton Sunday evening fled on foot from the scene of the accident, the city's Police Department said.

Officers with the Milton Police Department responded to the accident on Bethany Bend near Hopewell Road. They arrived to find the driver of the car had left the area.

"In an attempt to locate the driver, who was reported to have been injured, officers utilized a K-9 to try and track the suspect, but were unable to successfully locate him," the agency added on its Facebook page.

The male subject, police say, was able to evade capture by entering a neighboring jurisdiction. Furthermore, Milton police say the man was "briefly" in the city and has no known ties to the area. The agency stressed that they do not believe he will return to the area and at no point was he a threat to nearby residents or homes.

"The Milton Police Department takes the safety and security of its residents very seriously and had the situation posed an immediate danger to the Milton community, we would have utilized the multiple platforms available to us to convey that information and keep the Milton community updated," the Police Department added Sunday evening. "We hope that this update will help clarify some of the information being circulated on other social media applications and reassures our residents that there is no ongoing 'manhunt' or danger to the residents of Milton."
