Jog For A Cause Trots Into Milton

The 5K race will be held Feb. 25, and is part of the eighth-annual Milton Mayor's Run.

MILTON, GA -- If you're looking for a fun way to stay in or get back into shape, then Saturday's 14th annual Jog For a Cause is the perfect path towards a healthier lifestyle.

The event is part of the 8th annual Milton Mayor's Run, a Peachtree Road Race qualifier, and will be held at 8 a.m. Feb. 25 at Freedom Park.

"We are honored to once again partner and host Jog for a Cause, promoting health and wellness while raising money for a great cause," said Milton Mayor Joe Lockwood. "Participation grows each year and it's an incredible sight to see all the runners coming down Deerfield Parkway."

Registration is $30 during the morning of the race.

The 5K race will circle Deerfield Parkway, meaning it will be flat and fast. Awards will go to the 5K male and female open and masters and to the top three finishers in the various age groups.

"The partnership with Jog for a Cause is a wonderful opportunity for north Fulton residents to be active, engage with the city and their community and support a great cause," said Milton's Community Outreach Manager Courtney Spriggs.

Touched by a friend's loss of a child to leukemia and his own family experience with childhood cancer, Dr. Greg Cabrera of North Point Pediatrics first started Jog For A Cause in 2004. The annual race raises money to support cancer research, and assists families with the emotional and financial stress associated with diagnosis and treatment.

"As a founding member of the Milton Mayor's Run and a Milton resident, I am thrilled we could partner again with the city to host Jog for a Cause," said Dr. Cabrera. "The annual event has raised more than $293,000 to fight childhood cancer and we can't wait to increase that total with our 2017 race."
