Here are the top stories in Alpharetta-Milton today:

1. There was a shooting at a Johns Creek residence on Plantation Bridge Drive in Johns Creek early yesterday morning. The suspect is Abdul Batin Azzaam Rashid, who is the ex-boyfriend of one of the shooting victims. He allegedly shot her in the chest and shot her boyfriend in the leg. "The woman's 20-year-old son heard the shots, escaped through a window and got help from a neighbor." (Fox 5)
2. There will be a Chanukah celebration at nearby Halcyon this evening. It will take place on the Village Green from 5:15 to 7:15 p.m. There will be a lighting of the Menorah, goodies, games and music. "This event is held in collaboration with Chabad of Forsyth and Congregation Beth Israel." It is open to all. (Halcyon)
3. Are you looking for holiday themed activities this week, now that schools have closed? There are tons of options in the Atlanta area, ranging from hiking, ice skating, performances and tours. Some are in the Alpharetta/Milton area, and others are a short ride away. (FOX 5 Atlanta)

• The Alpharetta Lantern Winter Solstice Walk is this week! It will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 21, which is the shortest day of the year! Bring your lantern to the grove behind the Alpharetta Community Center, which is at 175 Roswell St. There will be fire pits and marshallows. Registration is required for this free event.
