King of Pops, Biscuit Love Join Alpharetta Food Hall Development

The Daily will be constructed on the former site of The Varsity, which closed in February 2016.

ALPHARETTA, GA -- The famed developer behind the popular Krog Street Market in Atlanta are setting their sights on bringing their brand of commercial projects to Alpharetta.

Revel has unveiled a few details about its plans to build The Daily on the site of the former Varsity restaurant in Alpharetta. Two new eateries, Biscuit Love and King of Pops, have announced plans to open in the development, said George Banks, partner and owner of Revel.

Biscuit Love, which has two locations in Nashville, serves a variety of made-from-scratch breakfast, brunch and lunch options. King of Pops is widely known for its handmade, tasty frozen treats.

Banks said The Daily won't be as large as Krog Street Market. The 14,000-square-foot venture is described by Banks as a beer garden surrounded by roughly six tenants all offering what he dubs as upscale, yet affordable, street food. Eateries that will open up shop in the development will all have kitchens, bars and full seating. They will surround a common courtyard where patrons can gather and relax.

Banks said the company chose to expand to Alpharetta due to its right mix of employees who commute into the city for work and those who call the Technology City of the South home.

“We thought Alpharetta was missing a lot of what the restaurant trends are moving towards: upscale street food," he said.

By bringing restaurants catering to this new style of dining out to Alpharetta, Banks said this will lead to a creative and festive atmosphere within The Daily and among customers of the restaurants.

"It’s (going to be) good food and a great time," he added.

The Daily will be located at 11556 Rainwater Drive. The Varsity operated its Alpharetta outpost there for 12 years before closing on Feb. 1, 2016. Banks said the building housing The Varsity has been demolished. Construction on the site should begin soon, and Banks said developers are hoping to early either by late spring or early summer of 2018.
