King’s Ridge Preview Day Features Touch a Truck

King's Ridge to host a campus-wide Open House and in conjunction, host a Touch a Truck for children to enjoy!

King’s Ridge Christian School will host visitors on campus for their annual Preview Day event on Sunday, January 29 from 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM. New this year will be a “Touch a Truck” feature highlighting vehicles used in careers within our community. The event will also offer a chance to visit with staff and students of the Pre-K – 12th grade Christian school.

The multi-denominational Christian school educates children beyond traditional learning. “Our students start very early as they experience an individualized approach to understand how they are wired and where those skills apply when selecting their future career or industry,” comments Lisa McGuire, director of admission. “They also benefit from rigorous academics so they can look beyond merely college acceptance to successfully earn a college degree.”

Research supports McGuire’s statement regarding the focus on finishing college. Today, too many college students have not been adequately prepared for college level academics or have any idea of a major, resulting in a college completion rate measured in 6 years rather than the 4-year college tenure of their parents. The Southern Association of Independent Schools reports an impressive 84% of alumni graduating college in 4 years in contrast to Complete College America reporting a 19% graduation rate by all full-time students within the same amount of time.

King’s Ridge’s strong college counseling program considers each student’s gifts and talents to select the proper college fit. This alleviates the need for parents to hire outside consultants to help their child receive that coveted college acceptance letter. The King’s Ridge Class of 2016 boasted a 100% college acceptance and earned $4.6 million in scholarships (not including Georgia HOPE or Zell Miller) for 47 students. AP scores also attest to strong academic preparation with 93% of those taking the AP test qualifying for college credit.

Beyond the strong academic preparation, King’s Ridge students use the JOURNEY for Life Impact approach to identify their strengths and work as interns in area businesses. This allows them to target a list of colleges that will prepare them for a career in a specific industry. Daily faith integration with Christian staff members develops an understanding of who they are and how God works within their lives. Being “KNOWN” develops a confidence to approach college professors to seek help when needed and navigate a college environment with a work ethic and time management skills they’ve been practicing for years.
