Alpharetta, GA -- Police have made a heartbreaking discovery in the case of the 20-year-old man reported missing on Thursday in Cherokee County.

The body of Canton resident David Ian Ralston, 20, was found in an Alpharetta hotel room on Saturday, Feb. 6, Lt. Jay Baker with the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office said.
Ralston was last seen around 3 p.m. Feb. 4 at his home on Lakeside Trace in unincorporated Canton, the agency said. He was reported missing on Friday by family members.

George Gordon, spokesperson with the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety, said the investigation into the man’s death is active and open.
