Man Threatened To Kill Woman Over Donald Trump Facebook Post: Police

MILTON, GA — A Georgia man has been charged with threatening a woman over Facebook when discussions about presidential candidate Donald Trump turned sour.

Cumming resident Jason Richard Kauti, 37, has been charged with felony terroristic threats via computer, said Milton police spokesperson Lt. Charles Barstow.

The incident came to light in late July when an officer took a report from a victim "indicating she had received threats of bodily harm" from a man she knew, Barstow said.

"Upon further investigation, the detective assigned to the case was able to verify that the threats were valid and had transpired as the victim described during a political dialogue that had occurred on Facebook," Bartstow added.

What spurred the alleged threat? A discussion surrounding the Republican presidential nominee, Trump. According to an incident report released by Milton police, the woman said she saw a post made by a friend concerning the candidate and chimed in with her opinion.

The report notes the victim said she thought "[Trump] was racist and received a lot of feedback from her statement."

The woman said Kauti allegedly made his threat by saying, "If we ever cross paths, I will kill you and your family," the report adds.

Based upon the investigation, Barstow said detectives were able to obtain warrants for the suspect's arrest, and Kauti turned himself in to Fulton County Jail staff.

Jail records show Kauti was booked into the facility Aug. 25 and was released two days later on a $7,500 bond.
