Manning Oaks Parents Get Lesson On Common Core, State Standards
The elementary school in Alpharetta recently hosted over 400 parents for its Bring Your Parent to School Day.

Parents of Manning Oaks Elementary students last month had a unique opportunity as the school welcomed over 400 participants into the classrooms for its Bring Your Parent to School Day.
Manning Oaks teachers taught a lesson to demonstrate how the curriculum is taught to the children. Afterwards, a catered breakfast was provided in the cafeteria as parents enjoyed a curriculum-related presentation from the school’s curriculum specialist, Ava Sheffield.
Sheffield spoke about Common Core curriculum, Depth of Knowledge (DOK) and rigor, Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA2), the new GA Milestones Assessment, MackinVIA and Home Access Center. Parents also received multiple resources they can use to support student learning at home.
