State Rep. Matt Dollar nominated Burkhalter for the post, adding that there are 26 boards in state government, but the State Transportation Board is the only one with members elected by the General Assembly.
Burkhalter thanked the members of 6th Congressional District for their support and taking the time to participate in today’s vote.
“I know how busy each of you are this time of year, and I am thrilled that you made this a priority,” he said. “Transportation is a key issue and I am going to be your voice on the Board to help you and your constituents. Thank you again, and I look forward to proving myself as an asset on the State Transportation Board.”
