Large Development Takes Precedence Over Milton Citizens: Resident
Massive Orkin Development takes precedence over Milton citizens' concerns with the proposed widening of Highway 9.

Our Coalition has been working on trying to get reasonable concessions from GDOT and support from the city of Milton for 9 months. The only answer we have been given was no.
As we have presented our case, we have been stymied at every turn. All along the way, I have been telling myself that this wasn't logical, that it just didn't make sense. I couldn't figure out what was missing. I might have figured it out at last.
Today, one of our Coalition members made me aware of a massive Avalon style development that is going in where Deerfield Place (Kohl's and Target shopping center) now exists.

Using the Georgia Open Records Request law, I was able to obtain a conceptual plan for this massive development. It includes retail, parking deck, theater, restaurants, offices, residences, etc., etc. It will result in huge traffic increases, crowding, increases in accidents, noise, and all kinds of nuisances.
It also apparently is being given a much higher priority than our requests to lessen the havoc and destruction and loss of property values that the Highway 9 widening project is going to wreak on our subdivisions. It looks like this monstrosity is going to just be waltzed through Milton's approval process to the detriment of its citizens who are trying to defend the value and safety of our homes and some level of quality of life.

I have inserted some jpegs below and I have attached some pdfs. They are poor quality and I apologize for that. I am going to try to obtain better copies.
Please forward this email to your residents and make them aware of the travesty that is being foisted on our subdivisions in deference to a wealthy developer. This is politics at its worst. Milton claims to be all concerned about quality of life, control of development, etc. This development and the widening of Highway 9 are totally counter to that philosophy.
Please forward this email to all of your residents and to anyone else who you think might be interested in this issue.
Sincerely,
