Historically held at Milton's Freedom Park on Deerfield Parkway, the city's 2017 Memorial Day celebration will move to its new home on the plaza at Milton City Hall at 2006 Heritage Walk. Scheduled to speak at this year's event is Atlanta attorney Cary S. King, who served in the U.S. Army and National Guard and was in the Infantry and Artillery in Vietnam. King, an active legal services volunteer serving veterans, was highly decorated receiving five Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart and five Air Medals among a host of other commendations and awards.

Milton's event starts with breakfast and coffee at 9 a.m. and open with Georgia skydiver Christian Stevens. The Memorial Day ceremony concludes with a roll call of veterans who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. Friends and family members of deceased veterans, as well as event attendees, are then invited to reflect upon the community markers created to honor their legacy.
