Milton Allows Prepayment Of Future Tax Bills
Residents can make prepayments in person at Milton City Hall, but should know that this is "not a guarantee" for tax deductibility.

UPDATE: The city of Milton is reversing course on its decision. Details are here.
MILTON, GA -- The city of Milton has received a number of inquiries from citizens about the 2017 Tax Reform Bill and the double-payment or prepayment of future tax bills. While Milton said its employees are legally prohibited from providing tax advice to citizens, it is using the topic as an opportunity to address prepayment options for residents.
In response to the these questions, the city said residents who wish to make payment toward future property tax bills may come into City Hall at 2006 Heritage Walk to make a prepayment.

Prepayments must be made in-person only; you cannot make prepayments online through the property tax portal. The city's hours of operations are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
While the city is informing residents of this option, it strongly encourage citizens to consult your tax counsel and/or CPA for further guidance prior to making any prepayments. The ability to prepay future tax bills to the city of Milton is "not a guarantee regarding tax deductibility and any prepayment is subject to all IRS requirements, restrictions and regulations," the city said.
