Here are the top stories in Alpharetta-Milton today:

  1. Are you interested in learning more about the City of Milton? Sign up for the Citizens Government Academy. It's an eight week program that will teach you about many areas of city government including law enforcement, court system parks and recreation and emergency services. The next session starts on January 25 and there are spaces available. Participants must be at least 18 years old. (City of Milton)
  2. Are you curious about the City of Milton's annual budget? The City publishes a "Budget Book" that shows the sources of revenue and how the funds are spent. Here is a link to the document https://www.miltonga.gov/home/showdocument?id=6365... It shows that the City is being transparent by sharing all this data. (City of Milton)
  3. Alpharetta trash and recycling pickup might not be on a one day delayed schedule as reported earlier. Republic is recommending that you place your containers out on your usual service day. They might pick up your trash and recycling on your usual day, or the following one. (City of Alpharetta)

  • Happy Kwanzaa! It is celebrated this week by having feasts, spending time with family and celebrating African and African American culture. " Habari Gani!" (City of Alpharetta Recreation, Parks, Cultural Services via Facebook)
  • Residents of nearby Forsyth County were advised to boil their water due to weather related issues. One of the water system valves there was frozen. Additional areas that were told to boil their water include parts of the following counties: Monroe, Haralson, and Clayton. The cold temperatures caused leaks and low water pressure. (WSB Atlanta)
