Cyndee Bonacci's vision for the Bethwell Community Center goes back to her first days with the city of Milton in late 2009, but at first not many were sure it was an idea worth following. On Tuesday, June 7, her vision was realized and few doubters remain.

The house had been donated to Fulton County with the provision that once it would revert to the original owner if its use changed. After not being used for almost 10 years, probably because of the need for renovations, Bonacci said she stepped in with her idea of a community center. And this year Milton City Council stepped up with $140,000 to make those renovations.

Now the old house has a large front porch, a small kitchen, a playground and plenty of space for summer camps. Camp Bethwell began even before the "official" opening of the community center.
