Milton Fire Hosts 'Push-In' Ceremony For New Ladder Truck

The tradition dates back to when engines were pulled by horses and, upon returning from calls, crews would push engines back into stations.

MILTON, GA -- Milton firefighters are inviting the community to a special ceremony for its new ladder truck.

The Push-In Ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, and is a traditional way to welcome a new fire apparatus to community service.

The tradition dates back to the days when fire engines were pulled by teams of horses and, upon returning from a call, fire crews would push the engines back into the station rather than have the horses try to back the wagon.

The event will be held at Fire Station No. 43 at 750 Hickory Flat Road.

Milton fire acquired the new E-One HP 100 ladder truck as part of their overall fleet plan, which was designed to serve the current and future needs of the community. It serves as a pivotal piece of Milton's firefighting arsenal, enhancing their ability to perform rescues from taller buildings and provide elevated water streams on residential and commercial structure fires.
