Milton First Responders Foundation Buys Training Equipment For Firefighters
The new training equipment will aid in physical fitness of Milton firefighters.

From Milton First Responders: The Milton First Responders Foundation (MFRF) is pleased to announce it has awarded a more than $6,000 grant to the Milton Fire-Rescue Department for the purchase of 60 BlastMask™ Training Regulators, one for every Milton Firefighter. This grant perfectly fulfills part of MFRF’s mission to purchase supplemental/non-budgeted equipment that helps maximize training opportunities and improves efficiency of first responders.

According to Milton Assistant Fire Marshal/Captain Alex Fortner, when incorporated into training evolutions and/or physical fitness regimens, the BlastMask™ Training Regulators help firefighters gain confidence and increase performance by restricting oxygen consumption and simulating real-world use of a self-contained breathing apparatus. “By continually working on ways to improve their skills, this training-aid purchase helps our firefighters to provide the highest level of service possible, while also supporting the mission and vision of the Milton Fire-Rescue Department and the MFRF,” said Fortner.
Based on the feedback received directly from Milton firefighters, the BlastMask™ regulators are already being put to good use during training exercises and their routine workouts. “The continued support from the MFRF and the Milton community is simply amazing and greatly appreciated,” said Fortner.

MFRF would like to thank all individual and corporate donors who provide funding for grants such as this throughout the year. “These generous donations for both fire and police help keep our first responders safe and operating at peak performance levels,” said MFRF Chair Brian Dolan. “We are indeed fortunate to have such well-trained and dedicated first responders here in Milton.”
The foundation’s premier fundraising event, the 3rd Annual MFRF Golf Tournament, is coming up October 23 at White Columns with sponsorships and player registrations now open online. In addition to being a lot of fun and raising a lot of money, even non-golfers can get involved by Sponsoring a First Responder to play for a tax-deductible contribution of $150.
