Milton High School Wind Ensemble Wows Crowd At Conference

On Friday, the Milton High School Wind Ensemble performed before a packed audience at the Georgia Music Educators Association in Savannah.

Savannah, GA,: Last Friday night, there were a thousand empty seats at the Savannah Trade Center because everyone there was giving a long-standing ovation to the Milton High School Wind Ensemble for their incredible performance before a standing room only crowd.

After applying to perform along with many other talented wind ensembles throughout the state earlier this year, the Georgia Music Educators Association chose the Milton High School Wind Ensemble to perform at their GMEA Conference held in Savannah, Georgia.

Performing before an audience of friends and admirers is one thing, however performing in a room full of leading school, collegiate and professional wind band conductors, is an entirely different challenge, and the Milton High School Wind Ensemble was definitely up to the task.

“The musicianship demonstrated by these students created a buzz among the conference attendees, and messages of thanks, praise and appreciation continue to come in. I couldn’t be more proud of the performance or the way the Milton High School Wind Ensemble represented our program, school, community and district,” said Chris Shumick, Milton’s Director of Bands.

Next stop for this group of extremely talented musicians is a trip to Columbia, South Carolina to perform for the University of South Carolina’s Band Clinic, Saturday, February 14th.
