Milton HS Track & Field Hosts Highly Competitive North Georgia JV Meet

Many individual event wins and personal bests spur on Eagles

The Milton T&F teams hosted 11 visiting schools on Wednesday evening, March 19th and got many victories and personal records as the boys team (3rd-71.25 pts) & girls team (5th-67 pts) competed well against some very strong track programs from around the metro-Atlanta area.  John’s Creek (118 pts) was the easy winner in the girls meet & SW Dekalb (113 pts) dominated the boys team scores.

GIRLS

Strong performances in the middle-distances and sprint relays highlighted the scoring for the Lady Eagles.  Junior Hallie Howell was Milton’s only individual winner taking the 1600m run in a new personal best (5:57.74)!  Lydia McGinnis was runner-up in the 400m (1:04.85) after winning her heat!  Milton also scored a 2nd place in the long jump (Allison Rhodes-14’6”) and the 4x400m relay that included McGinnis, Amina Ali, Marissa Marshall & Juliana Rafla (4:39.50).   The girl’s 4x100m relay was third with Rhodes also on the relay joining China Cordier, Angel Reese & Kiya Draper (54.09).

BOYS

Middle distance and distance runners paced the scoring for the boys of Milton as the 800m run saw a 1-2 finish for the Eagles as sophomore Brock Schutt ran a personal best (2:10.65) leading the way for Milton’s only event win. Fellow sophomore John Fravel had a busy night with his runner-up in both the 800m (2:14.98) and 3200m runs (10:59.48), the latter a personal best. The 1600m run saw Eagle runners finish 2nd & 3rd with Jacques DuPleisses (4:57.02) & Nolan English (4:58.91), and for English a big new personal best.  The 3200 also saw a second scorer for Milton with junior Christain Kirkup running another personal best (11:10.46) in securing the 4th place spot. The final to-scorer for the Eagles was James Breyen recording a personal best in the pole vault with a leap of 10’.

 

The Eagle track teams next see action on Wednesday, March 26th in a meet hosted by the Trojans of Lassiter followed by the Fulton County Championships on March 29th & 31st at Westlake HS in Fairburn, GA.
