Local authors Kimberly Brock and Rona Simmons led efforts to assemble more than 30 authors for this year's event.

MILTON, GA -- Better Together, Milton's volunteer citizen committee, is hard at work finalizing plans for the second annual Milton Literary Festival.
Local authors Kimberly Brock and Rona Simmons led efforts to assemble more than 30 authors who will be participating in this year's event, which will be held Nov. 11-12.
The festival begins with a special Words and Wine kick-off event at Wilbur & Rudy's Farmtable.

"We are excited to feature Cassandra King, well-known author and wife of the late Pat Conroy at this opening event," Brock said.
There is a $15 fee for those participating in the wine tasting. All other festival events are free to the public.

The following day the festival shifts into full gear on Saturday, Nov. 12, when best-selling author Lynn Cullen opens the festival. Afterwards participating authors will lead panels on fiction, non-fiction, suspense, workshops and other sessions throughout the day.
"Given the experience and background of our participating authors, we'll have a little something for everyone," Simmons added.
This year, the festival includes a number of events geared to children's activities -- a story with illustration activity, face painting and an opportunity to read to a therapy dog.
Another unique opportunity for this year's festival is the children's book trail built exclusively by volunteers and installed on property adjacent to the Milton Library. This effort was led by local author Suzanne Rosenwasser.
The festival also includes Box Lunch with the Chef, an event hosted by three cookbook authors where attendees can interact and learn from these food experts.
A first of its kind, Book Club Hookup is planned for the afternoon. Here, area authors and book clubs are encouraged to register to participate in an afternoon filled with lively conversations and thoughtful discussions. Participating book clubs will have the opportunity to meet new authors and arrange book club visits. Festival coordinators anticipate more than 30 book clubs will participate in this new event.
All Nov. 12 festival activities will take place at the Crabapple Government Center at 12624 Broadwell Road and the Milton Public Library at 855 Mayfield Road.
