Milton Mayoral Candidate. Laura Rencher endorsed by the NewPower Pac

Milton Mayoral candidate, Laura Rencher was endorsed by the NewPower Pac on October 20. The NewPower Pac is a nonpartisan Georgia-based group. It was founded in 2013 by a small group of women appalled
by the low number of women elected or appointed to Georgia political office. This is particularly true in Milton with women representing only 10% of the elected or committee members. Nationally, Georgia ranks 49th in this regard according to the Institute for Women’s Policy Research, with:

1. ONE woman in the Georgia Congressional delegation
2. NO women ever elected from Georgia to the U.S. Senate
3. NO women in statewide elected Executive Offices
4. FEW women in county and municipal elected or appointed positions.

In addition, the 2012 Georgia General Assembly was 77% male. Our mission is achieve a critical mass of diverse women in the legislature and other offices.

The group's strategy is to achieve women’s political parity and advance the public discourse in Georgia by electing diverse women into local office. The vetting and interviewing process is significant for this endorsement with over 100 applicants locally.
