Milton Orchestra Plays Bach to Rock

The spring concert was the season-ending, and the last for the seniors.

The Milton Orchestra presented its season ending concert recently in the high school's auditorium, entitled Bach to Rock–Part Two.

It was the last chance for a large group of sneiors on the concert, sinfonia and chamber orchestras to show what they've learned while enrolled in the school's Fine Arts department.

Richard Bomba, the director of the orchestraa, lead the musicians and helped bring the orchestra's personality out.

The full concert orchestra began the evening with some rock, peforming Stairway to Heaven, a Led Zeppelin tune. It was followed by A Whiter Shade of Pale.

The Sinfonia Orchestra took it back to Bach with Fague in G Minor, but it soon returned to rock, with even the Halo Theme getting the orchestra treatment.

The Chamber Orchestra opend up with Vivaldi's Concerto for Two Celli in G Minor, but it soon segued into The Lord of the Dance and then antoher piece by rockers Page and Plant, The Battle of Evermore.

The Milton High School Cello Band made a physical break with the staid appearance of orchestra musicians appearing in ties and tails, quickly "stripping" down to T-shirts, donning caps and playing a lively tune. They even performed their own music, entitled Yoga (Commanday, Zimmerman, Christie, Ringwall, Salvatierra & Tuggle).

Apparently no evening with the orchestra is complete without a few of its members changing tunes, instruments and appearance, as a trio came to the stage to end the night with Charlie Daniels Band's The Devil Went Down to Georgia.
