Milton Police Investigating Fraudulent City Employment Offers
The City of Milton human resources department was recently made aware of fraudulent job offers being made on behalf of the city.
MILTON, GA — The City of Milton human resources department was recently made aware of fraudulent job offers being made on behalf of the city. After initial investigation by the Milton Police Department, detectives investigating the incident have subpoenaed Microsoft and LinkedIn.
"We want to caution the public," said Human Resources Director Sam Trager. "All employment offers are executed through the city's human resources department using an official city email address."
A third party, posing as a Milton employee and utilizing a Microsoft Outlook email account, proactively reached out to potential job candidates to solicit interest and extend offers of employment associated with a remote, work-from-home position.
