Milton Police Issue Notice About Amazon Package Deliveries
The Milton Police Department is advising residents that the company uses third-party vendors to deliver packages.

MILTON, GA -- The Milton Police Department wants to remind you about package delivery services following a report of suspicious activity. The city reviewed the allegations and reached out to the company providing the service to local citizens, and confirmed that their operations were legitimate.
However, the department using this instance to inform you about these services and how they operate. In a nutshell, Amazon uses third-party vendors to deliver packages in parts of metro Atlanta. Milton police said that while Amazon states these deliveries are not taking place in the Milton area, "we anticipate with the increase in online shopping this holiday season that they may begin to do so."

- Deliver packages using their personal vehicles.
- Are not required to wear any uniform indicating they are subcontractors of or associated with Amazon.
- Are not required to place any markings on their personal vehicles indicating they are associated with Amazon.
- Are required to complete a criminal background check prior to being employed by Amazon.
While Milton has ordinances that govern door-to-door solicitation, these laws do not apply to delivery personnel.
"However, the Milton Police Department realizes that persons may take the opportunity to pose as third-party delivery operators for the purpose of committing criminal activity in our city and we want to take every possible step to try and keep that from happening," the department added. "We urge residents to remain vigilant over the next few months and report suspicious activity immediately to 9-1-1."

While Milton police have multiple ways you can contact them, calling 9-1-1 is the quickest way to get information to officers, who will be checking neighborhoods frequently to ensure high visibility and to discourage any potential criminal activity.
