Milton Purchases Land For Park, Trail Uses
The Milton City Council on Monday approved the purchase of two parcels on Hickory Flat Road and Bell Park Drive.

The Milton City Council on Monday approved the purchase of two pieces of property that would be used for parks and recreation purposes in the future.
The council unanimously approved a sale agreement with L. Gene Hyde for 4.69 acres at 0 Bell Park Drive for $175,000. City leaders also approved a sale agreement with Celia H. Wilson for roughly 2 acres of land at 690 Hickory Flat Road for $156,000.
Milton city spokesperson Jason Wright said both parcels are located adjacent to city-owned property. The Bell Road property abuts Bell Memorial Park and Hickory Flat Road parcel is adjacent to Fire Station No. 43 and Birmingham Park.

“The Bell land gives us an opportunity to preserve the land and expand the trail to give residents a more natural walking path,” he said. ”Hickory Flat gives us both an opportunity for preservation and another potential entrance going into Birmingham Park for the future.”
City leaders also approved a professional services agreement with Town Planning & Design, LLC to develop a conservation subdivision ordinance.
