Milton Resident To Run For City Council
Peyton Jamison is seeking the District 1, Post 1 seat, which is held by incumbent Karen Thurman.
MILTON, GA -- A small business owner has announced plans to run for the Milton City Council. Peyton Jamison, chairman of the Milton Planning Commission, is seeking the District 1, Post 1 seat, which is currently held by Karen Thurman.
Jamison said he's running for elected office in a bid to "restore Milton's rural character and provide a new vision for the city's direction."
“As a husband, father and small business owner, I feel compelled, now more than ever, to serve the city of Milton in a new capacity," he said. "If we want to preserve Milton’s character, it’s time for leadership that isn’t afraid to stand up for our residents and community. Our zoning laws were implemented to protect our city, and many of our elected officials aren’t following through – it’s time for a change.”

He also notes his service as past president of the Crabapple Community Association has allowed him to use those leadership skills to bring about positive changes to the city.

“Milton became a city 10 years ago with the vision to give residents more say in their government, to preserve our unique heritage and to offer a quality of life that positions us a top place to raise a family," he added. "Today that vision is being threatened, and it’s time for a new voice that will fight to ensure Milton can prosper and that vision realized."
Jamison graduated from Roswell High School and Auburn University. He runs a private wealth management firm with his father.
Along with his service to Milton Planning Commission and the Crabapple Community Association, Jamison has also served on Milton’s Better Together Committee and as chair of the Milton Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee. He's a current member of the Milton Charter Commission and North Fulton Comprehensive Transportation Plan Committee.
Jamison and wife, Megan, have three children, Tripp, Mallory, and Holden, and are members of Birmingham United Methodist Church.
