Milton Residents Can Help The Environment By Recycling Christmas Trees
The city will team up with Milton Grows Green Jan. 3 as part of the state's Bring One For The Chipper initiative.

Get those lights off and stock up on tie downs, because the city of Milton and Milton Grows Green will once again offer the chance to recycle your Christmas tree.
The organization will partner with the city to take part in Keep Georgia Beautiful’s Bring One For The Chipper program.
Residents can drop off their trees from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3 at three locations:

Dogwood saplings, donated by the Rotary Club of Alpharetta, will be handed out Jan. 4 to residents as quantities last.

For those who don’t have time to drop off a tree, Milton Boy Scout Troop 841 will pick up trees and recycle them for a $15 donation. Residents can schedule a pick-up by e-mailing treepickup841@yahoo.com.
Organizers are hoping to see growth similar to last year’s effort. Milton residents in January 2014 brought more than 700 trees to be chipped. They were used for mulch at local schools and in animal and fish habitats.
With more than 24 years of treecycling in Georgia, Bring One For the Chipper is the largest event of its kind in the nation. Since 1991, more than six million Christmas trees have been diverted from landfills and put to a greater use.
