Milton police spokesperson Lt. Charles Barstow said Adams then met up with a male juvenile, used her mother’s debit card at an ATM to withdraw cash and took off for Jacksonville, Florida.
In Jacksonville, Adams allegedly abandoned her mother’s car and stole another car. It was in the second stolen vehicle police say Adams and her male juvenile companion drove to Alabama. The pair were subsequently pulled over and arrested by Houston County sheriff’s deputies.
Houston County is home to Dothan, Alabama.
Milton police have charged Adams with theft by taking motor vehicle, theft by taking less than $1,500, financial card transaction theft and financial card transaction fraud. Barstow said Adams could also face charges in Houston County, Alabama, and Jacksonville.
While she’s been indicted on charges in Milton, Barstow said Adams could remain in Alabama a little while longer if she has to answer for any charges in that jurisdiction.
Barstow added detectives have yet to uncover a motive in Adams’ alleged crimes.
“This is not something we deal with on a daily basis,” he said when he was asked of how often crime sprees of this nature occur in the city of Milton.
