Milton Theatre Program Wins Six State Awards
The high school program brought home many trophies from the Shuler Hensley Awards for Excellence in High School Musical Theatre.
Milton High School's Theater program won six awards at the Shuler Hensley Awards for Excellence in High School Musical Theatre on Thursday night.
Those include:
- Best Featured Performer – Crawford Horton for his role as Not Dead Fred/Herbert
- Best Ensemble
- Best Supporting Actor – Brad Burnham for his role as Patsy
- Best Actress- Mckenzie Kurtz for her role as Lady of the Lake
- Best Musical Direction – Drew Bowers
- Best Orchestra – Chris Shumick
"Because Mckenzie Kurtz won the Shuler for Best Actress, she will represent the state of Georgia at the Jimmy awards in New York City this summer where she will compete with students from all over the United States for Best Actress," said Renee Denney, theatre director at Milton High for the past seven years. "In the past, the award for winning in New York has been a full four-year scholarship to NYU."
