Milton Tornado Siren System Will Go Live on Wednesday
The city will have eight operational sites, and two more sites are slated for S.R. 140 near Old Holly Road and Providence Park.

The city of Milton on Tuesday announced it will activate its tornado siren system on Wednesday, Dec. 10.
Matthew Marietta, the city’s emergency manager and fire marshal, said Milton will have eight operational sites:
- S.R. 9 just south of Bethany Bend
- Francis Road one mile from the Cogburn Road intersection
- Hopewell Road north of the Manor subdivision* Birmingham Road near Canterbury Chase
- Freemanville Road near the Pritchett Mountain water tower
- Fire station No. 43 (750 Hickory Flat Road)
- Thompson Road near North Christopher’s Run
- Birmingham Highway at the Providence/New Providence roads intersection
Two more sites are expected at S.R. 140 near Old Holly Road (operations should begin in the first quarter of 2015) and at the site of Providence Park, which is still owned by Fulton County.
Marietta said Milton’s system is designed to complement Alpharetta’s existing sirens covering the S.R. 9/Deerfield corridor and the Crabapple Crossroads area. If needed, they can work in concert to promote safety across all areas of both cities, Marietta added.
