Milton Track and Field Opens Season With School Record Relays

Two school records in the Distance Medley Relays Lead Eagles at the Roswell Invitational.

The Eagles of Milton opened their track & field season on a big note at the Roswell 8-Way Invitational with 2 school relay records in the Distance Medley (1200m-400m-800m-1600m) Relay along with a win in the boy’s long jump to lead the team.

GIRLS

The Lady Eagles of Milton ran to a new school record in the Distance Medley Relay (12:49.57) to finish 2nd in the race and break the old record by 8.63 seconds that had stood since 2012. The team of sophomore Emily Bowers, senior Victoria Wagner, sophomore Annie Gallagher & senior Riley Burr finished 2nd to South Forsyth (1st-12:32.67) and bested 6 other teams. Milton girls 4x800 relay teams also scored well with a 3rd (11:48.63) & 4th (11:48.90) place finish. Individually the Lady Eagles had many scorers in the meet including:

1600m-junior Brooke Aumer (5:40.23)-4th place

800m-senior Charlotte Matt (2:29.63)-5th place

400m-senior Amina Ali (1:03.78)-6th place

Pole Vault-junior Cara Doll (7’6”)-6th place

Long Jump-junior Ryleigh Harris (14’6”)-6th place

Triple Jump-junior Ryleigh Harris (30’1”)-7th place

1600m-senior Victoria Wagner (5:46.19)-7th place

High jump-freshman Celeste Greene (4’6”)-8th place

Discus-junior Taylor Whittington (79’10”)-8th place

BOYS

A victory in the Long Jump (21’6.5”) & 2nd places in the 300m Hurdles (40.59) & a school record & 2nd place in the Distance Medley Relay (10:43.42) led the Eagles of Milton. Senior Justin Taylor won the long jump & was 2nd in the 300m hurdles to individually lead the team in scoring! The Distance Medley relay team of sophomore Sam Bowers, seniors John Fravel & Matt McGorrey & junior Michael McCarthy broke the existing school record by 2.51 seconds that had stood since 2013. Senior John Fravel was also able to finish 3rd in the 800m (2:01.95). The 4x1600m relay team (sophomore Michael Malkowski/sophomore Ryan Beitzell/junior Joey Brovont/junior Valera Stettner) also recorded a runner-up finish (19:32.75) recording the 10th best time ever. In the throws senior Quin Lyle-Woods set personal bests & recorded Milton all-time marks in the Shot Put (2nd-44’1”) 6th all-time & the Discus (3rd-140’) for 3rd all-time! Sophomore Solomon Vanhorse also competed in 2 events with strong finishes in the 200m (3rd-23.61) & 400m (4th-53.65). Other scorers included:

100m-senior Adorian Beach (11.36)-3rd place

800m-senior Jacques Du Plessis (2:04.22)-4th place

4x1600m B-team (L. Tady, M. Seaman, A. Butzow, J. Vernon) (21:20.00)-6th place

Triple Jump-senior Nile Williams (39’1.5”)-7th place

Pole Vault-senior Steve Bui (10’6”)-8th place

4x800m-(J. Rush/N. Butzow/M. Brovont/A. Blizzard) (9:20.14)-8th place
