Milton Track & Field Showcase Sees Multiple Stadium Records Set

Nation-leading Girls triple Jump highlights 2-day meet of 28 schools

Milton High School hosted its 12th and largest edition of their Showcase Meet Invitational and saw multiple stadium records set and a US National leading mark in the girl’s triple jump.

In the team competition, the Lady Raiders of Walton HS (1st-121 pts) bested 20 scoring schools with Johns Creek HS (2nd-96 pts) & Mill Creek HS (3rd-92 pts) following. The highlight of the meet was the performance of Brookwood’s Morgan Bentley. Her 40’1/2” triple jump bested the top-national mark posted so far this season by 2.5” and broke the stadium record by over 2.5 feet! Moragn also won the long jump (17'2") to lead the Broncos. More stadium marks fell as well with South Forsyth’s junior Madelyn Cadeau besting the 2-mile record (1st-11:09.44) by close to 10-seconds and ran a leg on the winning 4x800m relay (1st-9:40.83) along with Sophia Baker, Emma O’Connor & Aleesa De Castro, that broke the existing stadium record by 14 seconds! Along with their team win, Walton produced 2 stadium marks with their 1:47.99 victory in the 800m Sprint Medley relay, a close to 4-second improvement on the record and Elasia Campbell, with a 4” improvement in the high jump (1st-5’10”). Ariel Riggs of Chamblee HS established the new stadium record in the 400m Hurdles (1st-1:10.90). By the slimmest of margins, Rockie Greer (1st-41.72) of Johns Creek HS broke the stadium record in the 300m dash by 3-100’ths of a second!

The Greyhounds of Pope HS (1st-96pts) bested 21 scoring schools and just edged out Mill Creek HS (2nd-95pts) & Alpharetta HS (3rd-83.5pts) for the team title. Pope’s William Wideman led the Greyhounds with wins in the triple jump & a stadium record in the 400m Hurdles (1st-1:01.21). Senior Calen Gizelbach of Forsyth Central HS had a busy meet with a runner-up finish in the 5000m, an anchor leg carry on their 4x800m relay team and a new stadium record in the 2-mile (1st-9:39.44) besting the 2016 record by just over a second.

The overall program winner of the meet (combining scores from the girls & boys competition) were the Hawks of Mill Creek HS (1st-187 pts) followed by Walton HS (2nd-171 pts).
