MILTON, GA — The City of Milton on Friday plans to move to a new payment merchant for certain finance and police department transactions, giving people another option, slightly alter fees, and smoothly integrate with the city's financial system.
The switch to the new OpenEdge merchant applies to select payments for both departments that are traditionally made in-person (like for fingerprinting services, property taxes, occupational taxes, etc.), and for online property taxes.

- People will now have the option of ACH (or eCheck) for a flat $3 convenience fee per transaction.
- The credit card processing fee will be 3 percent, up from the current 2.5 percent rate.
Electronic payments may be down briefly and temporarily during the switchover, so those needing to make payments should consider doing so on or before Thursday afternoon.
Where and how you pay online won't be any different after Friday. You can still go to online or the same corresponding webpage as always.
