Milton's Got Talent Seeks Contestants For Music Competition

The April competition will include both child and adult categories and the finalists will perform in a May 12 concert finale.

MILTON, GA — The newly minted Milton Arts Council has rolled out a new music competition. Milton's Got Talent allows residents to show off their skills and compete for the title of Milton's best, the city said.

The April competition will include both child and adult categories to ensure a level playing field for all competitors. The event also includes band and solo artist categories. Depending on the age/group category, entrants will pay a registration fee ranging from $10 to $50. All proceeds collected will benefit the Milton Arts Council, a new nonprofit created to advance music and arts programs and infrastructure for the community.

"We're incredibly excited about the future and believe the creation of the Milton Arts Council will help us grow and enhance the cultural arts experience in our community," said MAC Chairman William "Bill" Purdie, a local playwright and long-term Milton resident.

Initial auditions will take place at SoundLab Music Studios where each contestant will be videotaped and judged by a panel of professional musicians selected by the MAC. The video performances of the judges' top picks in each category will then be used as part of an online voting campaign. The finalists in each category, selected by the community, will perform at the Milton's Got Talent concert finale to be held on May 12.

"The musical talent in this community is incredible," said Robert Stewart, owner of SoundLab Atlanta and founding MAC board member. "We look forward to showcasing the finalists at the concert finale."
