Nearby: Body of Woman Found Near S.R. 400

The body was found Saturday afternoon in the unincorporated Alpharetta portion of Forsyth County.

Autopsy results are pending on the woman whose body was found near S.R. 400 near the Fulton-Forsyth county line over the weekend.

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said a hunter discovered the body around 2 p.m. Saturday Dec. 27 in a wooded area near McFarland and Ridgeland parkways in the unincorporated Alpharetta portion of the county, according to the agency’s Facebook page.

The woman’s body has been identified, but her name is being withheld pending notification of her next of kin. However, the agency did say the woman is not a Forsyth County resident.

Deputy Doug Rainwater with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said the body of the woman, who he said was 24-years-old, had been in the woods for two months. Additionally, Rainwater said no foul play is suspected at this time, but detectives continue to investigate the death.

Rainwater aded the agency will release the name of the woman once the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Crime Lab can confirm her identity.

The Crime Lab is slated to perform an autopsy by midweek, and Rainwater noted those results could come back by Friday.
