ALPHARETTA, GA — An elementary school in Alpharetta has moved its entire fifth grade class to digital learning.

Fulton Schools posted on its Facebook page on Monday night that "based on a high volume of positive cases and direct contacts and having met the criteria of a Level 2 at Lake Windward," the fifth grade will be doing remote learning starting Tuesday through Thursday, Sept. 2, returning Friday, Sept. 3.

On Aug. 11, the district updated its mask policy for students, staff and visitors.

All cities within the Fulton County Schools jurisdiction were above 100 per 100,000 positive COVID-19 cases. According to that data, all cities were identified as high community spread by public health officials. The requirement to wear a mask indoors was then extended to all schools, including the schools and facilities within Johns Creek, which had previously been exempt.

The district also announced the eighth grade class at Camp Creek Middle School would be remote learning through Aug. 30.
