North Fulton Health Center Offers Back-To-School Vaccines

The North Fulton Regional Health Center in Alpharetta will offer these services as part of its Back-To School Rush through Aug. 24.

ALPHARETTA, GA — Summer is the perfect time for getting young children, teens and college students ready to go back to school by making sure they are up-to-date with their immunizations. Most schools require children to be current on vaccinations before enrolling, and the Fulton County Board of Health is encouraging you to get ahead of the rush by getting your little ones vaccinated now.

Childhood vaccines protect against serious and potentially life-threatening diseases including polio, measles, whooping cough and chickenpox. Children can receive their required vaccinations and health screenings during the FCBOH's Back-to-School Rush that's underway.

These health services will be offered weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the following locations:

"Vaccinating your children is one of the most important things you can do as a parent to ensure your children's protection against certain diseases such as measles, mumps, whooping cough and polio," said Fulton County Board of Health's Director of Nursing and Clinical Services Gloria Beecher, DNP, RN, CPHQ.

Required immunizations for children are based on the age of the child. The cost to administer the immunizations is $21.93 for children up to age 18. There is an additional vaccine administration fee of $19 for young adults age 19 and older. The cost for a vaccination certificate, which is the record of your child's immunizations, is $21 and is available through the Board of Health.

Required health screenings for all students include vision, hearing, dental and nutrition. The cost of these health screenings is $31 per person. Parents and guardians may pay for the immunizations and health screenings by using cash or credit/debit cards (no American Express®).

Money orders are accepted for the exact amount of the cost of the immunization fees. Georgia Medicaid, PeachCare for Kids® and Aetna private insurance are also accepted. Aetna is the only private insurance being accepted at this time.

More information on vaccinations is available on the state Department of Public Health's website.
