Northside Alpharetta's Breast Care Center Recognized For Excellence

Northside Hospital’s Alpharetta Breast Care Center has been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology, the hospital said on Wednesday.

The highest level of accreditation that can be attained by a breast imaging center, the designation recognizes those that have sought out and earned accreditation in all of the ACR’s voluntary, breast-imaging accreditation programs as well as the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.

Located at the Northside/Alpharetta Medical Campus on Old Milton Parkway, the Breast Care Center is fully accredited by the ACR in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy. Peer reviewers thoroughly evaluated the center’s image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs to assure that Northside meets or exceeds national standards.

“We have always prided ourselves on having the highest quality of breast imaging at our facilities,” said Lynn Baxter, M.D., director of women’s imaging at Northside Hospital. Northside offers dedicated women’s imaging for breast and bone health, as well as reproductive issues.

“It’s gratifying to have official recognition of the high quality of our imaging services and the subspecialized expertise of our physicians and staff,” Dr. Baxter adds.

Northside Hospital is highly respected in the community for its state-of-the-art imaging services and also has ranked number one by metro Atlanta consumers in the National Research Corporation’s annual Healthcare Market Guide for the past nine years. More cases of breast cancer are diagnosed and treated at Northside each year than at any other hospital in the southeast.

In addition to state-of-the-art breast imaging, the campus offers the latest in breast surgery (mastectomy and reconstruction), radiation therapy, chemotherapy, physical therapy and more. Working collaboratively with referring physicians, certified navigators guide patients through the diagnostic process and provide patients with education and support during their breast cancer treatment.
