A field of 107 players took to the links Aug. 31 following a 9 a.m. shotgun start. A total of 29 first responders from Milton, Alpharetta and Johns Creek were able to play for free thanks to sponsorship by several individual and corporate donors.
Former pro football players Mo Lewis and Tim Lester were on hand to play, mingle and take photos with golfers and first responders throughout the day.

All proceeds from fundraising events will be used to support the group’s ongoing mission, which is to provide financial support for Milton first responders who are injured in the line of duty or are enduring a family hardship and to purchase supplementary/non-budgeted equipment and training materials.
MFRF, a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization, relies solely upon the financial support of businesses, organizations and citizens in order to meet their objectives. The tournament was sponsored in-cash and in-kind by over 70 donors who were recognized on signage, printed materials as well as social media.
Board Member Jan Fowler stated that “sponsors are the lifeblood of events such as this and their support for Milton’s first responders was generous and heartfelt.”
“We can’t thank them enough,” Fowler added. “We hope Milton citizens will thank them when visiting their businesses.”
The foundation will make an appearance from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 26 at Scottsdale Farms’ Pumpkin Patch. In addition to pumpkins, a bounce house and other fun activities, children and adults will enjoy meeting Milton’s K-9 Team Officer Grey and Kyro. There will also be a fire engine and police car on display.
