Pedestrian Dies From Injuries Sustained in Accident

The victim, an Alpharetta resident, was struck by a car early Tuesday morning on Old Scott Road in Roswell.

ROSWELL, GA -- The man who was struck by a car early Tuesday morning in Roswell has passed away.

The victim, Alpharetta resident Gary John Howard, 25, died Tuesday afternoon from the injuries he received in the accident, which was reported on Old Scott Road around 6 a.m., said Roswell police spokesperson Lisa Holland.

While the case remains under investigation, Holland said it's likely the driver will not be charged in connection to the fatal wreck.

Howard, she added, was walking home when "for reasons unknown, he stepped off the sidewalk and was in the roadway when he was hit by the car."

Holland previously said the driver of the vehicle remained on the scene following the collision.
