ALPHARETTA, GA -- A man exiting a MARTA bus was killed early Monday morning while crossing a major thoroughfare in Alpharetta.

Gordon said it appears Gautam got off the bus at the stop, entered Haynes Bridge Road from behind the bus and was hit by 2011 white Lexus.
According to a 911 call released by Alpharetta officials, the bus driver told dispatchers the victim was struck in front of Walmart near Alpharetta Crossing as he walked across the street.

"We need an ambulance ASAP," the bus operator said. "I mean, this guy is not breathing."
The bus driver, who said there were passengers on the bus at the time of the collision, said the motorist behind the wheel of the Lexus remained on the scene as he called police.
Police continue to gather statements from witnesses, including the driver of the Lexus, Gordon stated.
"It's not the way we want to start a day coming off a holiday period," he added.
