Police Identify Man, 72, Killed In Alpharetta Crash

ALPHARETTA, GA -- Alpharetta police have released the identity of the motorist who died Wednesday from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle collision.

Lawrence Jones, 72, of Roswell passed away at an area hospital following the collision, which was reported on Highway 9 near Devore Road, the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety said on its Facebook page.

"We offer our condolences and prayers for the family," the agency wrote.

The accident, which also resulted in a motorist who was entrapped inside one of the vehicles, closed lanes Wednesday afternoon along Main Street between Devore and Maxwell roads.

The crash remains under investigation by the department's Traffic Unit Reconstruction Team.

Alpharetta police are asking witnesses to the crash to call the tip line at 678-297-6307 and leave a call back number.
