Rapper Lil' Jon's Son Missing In Metro Atlanta

Police say they are searching for the son of Lil' Jon, music producer and pioneer of Atlanta's crunk rap era, who has disappeared.

MILTON, GA — Police say they are searching for Nathan Smith, the 27-year-old son of Atlanta-based producer and rapper Lil' Jon, who disappeared after running out of his home early Tuesday.

Milton Police Smith, who performs under the stage name DJ Young Slade, was last seen in the area of Baldwin Drive and Mayfield Road. He disappeared from his home around 6 a.m., police said.

"Subject left on foot and does not possess a phone. He may be disoriented and in need of assistance. Family and friends are concerned for his safety," police said on a missing persons flier.

Police said Smith is 5-feet-9-inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. He has brown eyes and short black hair, they added.

Lil' Jon's publicist released a statement to CBS News Atlanta "asking for privacy" amid his son's disappearance, the news outlet reported.

Lil' Jon, a Grammy-winner whose real name is Jonathan Smith, has produced the hits "Shots," "Turn Down For What," "Snap Ya Fingers" and "What You Gon' Do." He is widely known as a pioneer of Atlanta's crunk era in the early 2000s.

His son has worked to build his own music career.
