Rock For Rescues Festival Benefits Animal Groups

The city of Milton's event will be held on Saturday, April 28.

MILTON, GA — The city of Milton will team up to host a music festival to benefit local animal nonprofit organizations. Rock For Rescues, a one-day festival, will be held Saturday, April 28 along Broadwell Road.

Milton is joining forces with Vox Artium Foundation for the event. Its musical lineup includes Atlanta-based bands including a slow boat to china, Pony League, Chip McGuire Band and Linnie and Amy Joy.

The city and the Crabapple Community Association partnered with event founder and organizer Vox to bring this new music event to downtown Milton in the heart of the Crabapple district. Rock for Rescues benefits five designated animal charities: Special Equestrians of Georgia, a Milton nonprofit; Pilots 'N Paws; Pets for Vets; Canine Cellmates; and Furkids.

Festival goers will enjoy music from some of Atlanta's best bands, shopping at Crabapple retailers, delicious bites and sips from food and beverage trucks, and more fun activities while rocking out to awesome tunes. The festival will be held from noon to 6:00 p.m. Spotify users can preview the event bands by selecting the "RockForRescues2018" playlist.

"Rock for Rescues is replacing our annual Milton Jubilee," said Community Outreach and Engagement Manager Courtney Spriggs. "This new event provided us with a unique opportunity to re-energize the city's signature spring event, but more importantly, it combines Milton's volunteer spirit and love for animals by benefiting these amazing organizations."

The April 28 event is free to attend, through the generosity of event sponsors, private donations, retail partnerships and event-day booth fundraisers. Tax deductible donations may be made at www.rockforrescues.org. Patrons will also have the opportunity to text-to-donate onsite and participate in an online auction. All donations are tax-deductible and 100 percent of the net proceeds will be divided equally between the five pet rescue organizations.

"Each of our selected nonprofits has a unique approach to animal rescue, which has proven engaging for the community as we have rolled out this festival," said Laura Jesseph, Rock for Rescues program manager. "The community that we are building between the musicians, rescues, and sponsors has been humbling and powerful, it shows what is possible when people come together and connect the arts and philanthropy. We look forward to seeing you on April 28."
